Night & Day Cowl – We Get You Started ✨🧶

Join us for another inspiring session as part of our We Get You Started series, featuring the beautiful Night & Day Cowl by Andrea Mowry.

The Night & Day Cowl is a fun and engaging colorwork project that combines simple slipped stitches with clever shaping to create a beautiful checkerboard pattern. Worked with two contrasting colors of DK-weight yarn, it’s a wonderful project for playing with color and learning new techniques while creating a cozy, modern cowl.

The cowl is worked flat on the bias and then seamed together at the end. The slipped-stitch pattern creates the beautiful colorwork effect without traditional stranded colorwork, making it especially fun to knit. Choose two high-contrast colors for a bold checkerboard look, or create your own combination for something completely unique.

Together with Laurie, we’ll go over the pattern and construction, practice the techniques used to create the beautiful I-cord edges, review the slipped-stitch pattern and shaping, talk about yarn and color choices, and help you confidently get started.

The idea behind We Get You Started is simple:
we explain, we practice, we start together and then you continue at your own pace. 🧶✨

Please note that this is not a beginner knitting class. Basic knitting skills and pattern reading are required.

No previous slipped-stitch colorwork or I-cord experience is required!

– DK-weight wool yarn in 2 contrasting colors
– Approximately 100 (138, 175, 225) yards / 92 (126, 160, 206) m of EACH color, depending on your selected size
– US 6 / 4 mm 24” circular needle, or size needed to achieve gauge
– Stitch markers
– Tapestry needle & basic knitting notions

The pattern is available in four sizes:

Child (Teen, Adult Small, Adult Large)

Finished circumference: approximately
18.75 (21.5, 24, 26.5)” / 47.5 (54.5, 61, 67.5) cm

Finished back neck depth: approximately
6 (7.25, 8.5, 9.75)” / 15 (18.5, 21.5, 25) cm

✨ Have fun with your yarn choices! This project really comes to life with two contrasting colors. Go classic with light and dark, choose two bold colors, or create your own unexpected combination. The checkerboard pattern is such a fun way to see how differently two colors can play together.

Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the event are non-refundable and non-transferable.

A minimum of 3 participants is required. If the minimum is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the session. Participants will receive a refund and priority access to a future session.
