First & Second Stitches is a welcoming two-part knitting series designed for absolute beginners and anyone looking to refresh the fundamentals. Over two thoughtfully structured sessions, you'll build your skills step by step in a relaxed, supportive, and community-focused environment.

Rather than rushing through techniques, we believe that confidence comes through practice. That's why these two workshops are designed to be taken together. Each session builds naturally on the previous one, giving you time to practice, ask questions, and truly understand the foundations of knitting.

Whether you're completely new to knitting or returning after years away, you'll leave with the confidence to continue your knitting journey on your own.

Session Details

👥 Format

This workshop series consists of two individual sessions that are designed as one complete beginner course.

First Stitches introduces the essential foundations:

• Casting on
• Knit stitch
• Purl stitch
• Binding off

Second Stitches builds on those skills by reinforcing the basics while introducing:

• Ribbing
• Increases
• Decreases
• Additional practice and confidence-building techniques

We strongly recommend attending both sessions, as the second workshop is designed as a direct continuation of the first and provides the practice and reinforcement that help new knitters feel comfortable and confident.

Taught by Kristen, whose calm, encouraging teaching style makes learning approachable, enjoyable, and fun.

Materials Needed (not included)

We recommend:

• Worsted-weight yarn
• Light solid or tonal colors (easier to see your stitches)
• US Size 8 knitting needles 

You are welcome to use yarn from your own stash. We always greatly appreciate when you choose to support the shop by purchasing your project yarn from us - as a little thank you, you will receive 10% off your selected yarn for the class.

Registration & Cancellation Policy

By registering, you're reserving your place in the complete two-session workshop series.

Because the workshops are designed to build upon one another, registration includes both sessions, and we encourage participants to attend each class.

Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the first workshop are non-refundable and non-transferable. This helps us plan ahead and fairly support our instructors.
